Genuine Labubu vs Fake Labubu (Lafufu) Guide: How to Tell the Difference (2025)

Äkta Labubu vs Fake Labubu (Lafufu) Guide: Så ser du skillnad (2025)

Labubu from Pop Mart has quickly become a collector's favorite worldwide, including in Sweden. Unfortunately, its success has also led to copycats like the Lafufu being proliferated in the market. These pirated copies may seem similar at first glance - but there are clear differences. Here we show how you can easily recognize one genuine Labubu.

1. The packaging reveals a lot

Genuine Labubu: Clear and crisp print quality, clear Pop Mart logo, correct spelling.

Fake Lafufu: Blurred print, misspelled words, faded colors.

2. QR code for verification

Genuine Labubu: Has a QR code on the box or tag that leads to Pop Mart's official verification page.

Fake: The QR code does not work or leads to an unknown domain.

3. Quality of the figure

Genuine Labubu: Smooth details, clean lines, high quality vinyl (PVC/ABS).

Fake: Visible seams, uneven shapes, cheap plastic material.

4. Check the bag - so you can see if your Labubu is genuine

When you buy Labubu from Pop Mart is the packaging an important clue to whether the figure is real or fake.

  • Previous Batches: Foil bags that tear open to open.

  • Newer batches: Tie bags of high quality with Pop Mart logo and correct pattern.

One genuine Pop Mart figure always comes in a factory sealed bag. If the bag is open, damaged or has an unusual appearance, it may be a sign that the figure is one copy.

5. Use UV light on right foot (newer figures)

A hidden UV mark in the form of a silhouette should appear under the foot. This applies to Labubu Big into Energy and newer versions.

How to spot a fake Labubu?

  • Poor quality of painting and details
  • No QR code, or QR that doesn't link to Popmart.com
  • Scratch code missing or already used
  • No UV mark under the foot
  • Cheap or incorrect packaging (wrong colors, unclear print, wrong font)

Tips for those who collect figurines:

  • Always buy from sources you trust, who can document that the products are genuine.

  • Preferably choose Swedish stores with stock in Sweden - then you avoid customs duty, get fast delivery and are better protected against fraud.

  • At Tinko.se, we ship directly from our warehouse in Örnsköldsvik, and all figures come in original sealed packaging.

  • Save the box, bag and trading card to retain the figure's value.

  • Follow Pop Mart's official channels for information on new batches and production changes.
